Chakra Characteristics

The following list is quite basic due to our goal of brevity with the information presented herein. The characteristics of the chakra include the specific color of the chakra, the body organ(s) governed by the specific chakra, and the illness connected to a specific chakra. The chakra characteristics, such as color, may vary slightly from one tradition to another. My healing tradition allows flexibility in using the chakra characteristics that intuitively feel right to the practitioner. Some traditions also use a different associated endocrine gland in the Third Eye Chakra. The variations in chakra characteristics are minimal, and should'nt become a wench in your healing practise. Just be flexible. The chakra characteristics do not need to be a point of contention. Just go with what your heart tells you.

The chakra characteristics for the seven major chakra:

7th Chakra, Crown (Saharara):

Color: Violet to lilac, white, gold
Location: Crown of the head
Body Organs: Muscular system, general skeletal system, skin, central nervous system, pituitary gland, cerebral cortex
Physical Disturbances: Depression, headaches, diseases of the muscular system, diseases of the skeletal system, skin disorders
Spiritual: Universal Oneness, return to the all, our connection to Divine Source

6th Chakra, Third Eye (Ajna):

Color: Royal purple to indigo
Location: Between the eyebrows
Body Organs: Pineal gland, eyes, ears, brain, hypothalamus, nervous system
Physical Disturbances: Eye or vision problems, ear problems, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, brain disturbances, neurological disturbances, sinus problems
Spiritual: Intuition, telepathy, clairvoyance, truth vs. illusion

5th Chaka, Throat (Visuddha):

Color: Blue
Location: Throat
Body Organs: Throat, thyroid, parathyroid, neck, vocal cords, mouth, jaw, teeth, gums, ears, nose, trachea, tonsils
Physical Disturbances: TMJ, thyroid problems, hearing problems, sinus problems, sore throat, neck pain, tonsillitis, any disease in the mouth, teeth problems, gum disease
Spiritual: Artistic expression, clairvoyance, communication, surrender to Divine Truth

4th Chakra, Heart (Anahara):

Color: Green
Location: Heart
Body Organs: Heart, circulatory system, lungs, thymus gland, diaphragm, shoulder, arms, hands, immune system, breasts, ribs, upper back
Physical Disturbances: Heart and cardiac disorders, problems with circulation, thymus problems, lung disease, asthma, bronchitis, arm and shoulder problems, upper back pain, disorders of the immune system, hypertension
Spiritual: Unconditional love

3rd Chakra, Solar Plexus (Manipura):

Color: Yellow
Location: Solar plexus, below diaphragm
Body Organs: Respiratory system, diaphragm, stomach, digestive system, small intestines, liver, gall bladder, kidney, pancreas, spleen, mid-spine, adrenal glans
Physical Disturbances: Digestive problems, gastric or duodenal ulcers, weight issues, hepatitis, diabetes, pancreatitis, adrenal dysfunction, gall stones, kidney problems, allergies, mid- spine pain (behind solar plexus to top of low back)
Spiritual: Aligning personal will with Universal will, realm of intellect, spiritual power

2nd Chakra, Naval (Svadisthana):

Color: Orange
Location: Underneath naval
Body Organs: Large intestines, colon, sexual organs, lower vertebrae, bladder, appendix, lymphatic system, hip area, prostate, all bodily fluids
Physical Disturbances: chronic low back pain, pain in the hips, sexual dysfunction, female problems, arthritis, colitis, urinary problems, appendicitis, sciatica
Spiritual: To honor self and others, personal power, sexual union, physical survival

1st Chakra, Root (Muldahara):

Color: Red
Location: Base of spine, perineum
Body Organs: Base of spine, bones and bone marrow, immune system, legs, feet, rectum
Physical Disturbances: Chronic low back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, immune related disorders, depression, bowel problems, chronic fatigue
Spiritual: Connection to Source, physical survival, security, stability
